Christopher Columbus looked for new opportunities and pushed limits. How can you do the same?

Today we remember Columbus, one of many people who pushed the envelope in their day. While his history may be controversial, one thing is certain – he challenged beliefs commonly held during his time. He became famous for showing the world that there is more out there than we think.

Our own beliefs can damage our ability to make great things happen. It’s important to constantly challenge what we “know” about the world, and always ask ourselves if there is more out there. If we always let the “industry standard” determine what we believe is possible, our potential will be capped.

New industry standards are created because someone, somewhere decided to think differently.

The last several months I have been feeling like I could do more, be more, and have more impact. I have been challenging myself to think differently about how some of the paradigms I live within create safety but not necessarily the best outcomes and opportunities. I am no Columbus, but I embrace the chance to forge a mindset of asking more questions and challenge the standard, “safe” answers!
